Pekingese Dogs – How to Potty Training Your Pekingese

Pekingese Dogs

The Pekingese dogs are intelligent and therefore they can be easily trained. Some owners choose different methods for training their Pekingese. There are a few good methods that work.

The first thing you should do with your new puppies is when they are just walking well. You will want to transfer them to a really big box. The box will need to be big enough you can put a full puppy-training pad in one end of the box. You need to put a towel or something soft in the other end. This way the babies will be drawn to the puppy pads. Babies do not want to soil the area where they sleep, play and rest. Therefore they will practically train them selves.

Pekingese Dogs Potty  Training Methods

One method is to just simply take your puppy outside very often and let them sniff around until they go potty. Now the puppy has done this his scent in the yard in this area. So he will want to go there when you bring him outside again. Puppies must be taken out frequently as they have tiny bladders. This is a very good method of potty training; you will have no messes in the house to worry with. You will only have to pick up the mess from the yard. When the puppy gets the ideal of he needs to go outside he will go to the door when he needs to go potty.

The next method is the use of the training pads mentioned earlier. Some puppies are already trained when they come to you. However some will need reinforcement training in your home to finish the training. Simply put the pads down in the area of your home where you want the puppy to go potty. Then be sure to show him/her often where the pads are until they remember where the pads are. There is a scent put into these pads that urges the puppy to potty on them. This method can also be used with plain newspapers, places where you want to puppy to go potty.

Another method that many people use is a crate or pet carrier, the puppy/ dog is placed into the crate, and must be let out to go outside to potty. This is a very hard method on a small puppy. The puppy has not learned to control its bladder yet. So it might soil the crate, this can be embarrassing for the puppy. Because the puppy does not want to mess or soil where he/she has to sleep or play. If you are gone all day and cannot let the puppy out it is not a good ideal to train this way.

As an owner you can also purchase a puppy gate this will allow you to confine the puppy in an area where the puppy pads are this will ensure the puppy cannot make messes around you home. He must stay only in the area he is confined to. You would want to use a vinyl or a tile floor for the area it can be cleaned easily. This is encase the puppy were to miss the puppy pads.

Hopefully this article will help you train your Pekingese Dogs. So this experience is not stressful on you or the puppy.

Pekingese Dog As a Pet and Part of Your Family

Pekingese Dog As a Pet and Part of Your Family

Pekingese DogYou have chosen a Pekingese dog to be a part of your family. Now it is your responsibility to make this little friend feel welcomed and love. Just as you would bring another person into your life to fill and empty spot that is lacking something, or a newborn child for that area of your life, to expand your family. This little Pekingese, Pekinese or Peke can add things to you life. Companionship, or maybe a pet for a child, or a reason for an older individual to keep from being lonely, what ever the reason maybe, he/she will return all that it has in its little heart and more.

Expose the new little family member to each of the rest of the family. Let each one-take time holding and playing with the Pekingese. This will get him/her used to each person and the way they handle the Pekinese. Maybe designate a part of the care of the Pekinese to each family member. Therefore the peke will bond with all not just one member, most pekingese  dog however will pick someone it likes more than others.

Try to do the same things daily– feeding, walking, play, grooming. The daily grooming should be a pleasant bonding experience, the Pekingese will enjoy the soft gentle touch, and this will help the  dog stay healthy and content. Grooming is relaxing for both you and your Pekinese. Let the peke know where he/she can go and what he/she can do. This includes where he/she is to sleep the Pekinese will want to sleep with you if possible, if this is not a soft pillow, or a ready made dogie bed will suffice.

Play is important to a sound healthy pekingese dog for he/she needs stimulating play and exercise regularly.

Food and drink need to remain in the same area of the home if the Pekingese has to hunt for its food it could become distressed. The peke will need to know where to go to potty, this should be some place in the home that is out of sight, a laundry room, wash room, corner of the kitchen the pekingese is a proud breed and does not want an audience.

You do not want this to be seen by guest when they visit. Certain areas that are off limits to the peke need to be addressed as well if for some reason you cannot allow them in these areas, you might install a puppy gate or simply teach the Pekinese no this is off limits.

Pekingese dog wants to be where you and all family members are therefore it will follow you around the house to make sure that everyone is OK and all is well within its world. A pekinese can get distressed when there is chaos, so try to keep a daily routine, or schedule. After you bring the Peke home this will help to make the Peke feel like one of the family, as well as help everyone adjust and get comfortable.

Take the dog with you wherever you travel, if this is possible, they need to be exposed to other family members that do not live with you.

Other pets the other members have are a good experience as well, this teaches the Pekinese how to relate to other animals. Sometime it is not possible to travel with the Pekingese in this case you should leave him/her in the care of someone extremely responsible and trustworthy.
